Synthesizer music for the soul

Original Music All The Time

This is the Synthesizer Music World of Original Three Beard

What is it that makes me the Original? It all started in the first decade of the 21st century when my friend Em approached me and said she was starting a band. I asked if she needed a percussionist for the band and she said yes. We didn’t know yet, but on that day the future group known as The Back Pockets was born.  If you followed local music in Atlanta you may have seen us play at WonderRoot, and several places around the city.

I was a bearded nomad living in the big city. I played a variety of percussion instruments, as well as some keyboard. I had a habit of braiding my long beard, sometimes in three braids, sometimes 5 or more. When we performed live as The Back Pockets I would often braid my beard with three braids. And so my stage name became Three Beard.

Eventually I moved into synthesizer music, beginning with IOS apps on my iPads. The first, and one I still use, was named Synth One. Then I started purchasing synth hardware. Behringer caught my attention (and dollars) with their low cost clones. But clones aren’t the same as the real thing, are they… so I started looking at and buying the real synthesizers from the real masters with names like Moog and Roland, and Korg and others. But not all of my hardware is costly. There’s the Casio CTK-591 that I bought embarrassingly cheap because “it was making a noise”. A new power supply fixed that problem and the Casio has figured into many of my Ambient songs.

At some point in time I began to upload my original music onto the Soundcloud.com platform. After a while I discovered there were other artists using the name Three Beard. That was the point that I officially added “Original” to my name, as I felt all the others came after me.

It is my hope that the original music you find on this website suits your ears. I’d like to hear from you in any event, no matter what you have to say. Thanks so much for visiting and listening!
